What you utter becomes outer. The word utter and the word outer have the same root. Spelling is spell-casting; words are frequencies. Speak the word the way you want things to be, regardless of the conditions of the moment — because the words you speak are the words you attract.
These are the affirmations that work. Each one has been proved before it was ever put on the page. This is Don Kilam’s teaching, from his book Universal Laws of Prosperity and his spoken-word prosperity class.

THE WORD IS THE INSTRUMENT
In the beginning was the Word. The ancients knew it, and Don Kilam teaches it plainly: words are frequencies, and every spoken word carries power. By a certain arrangement of words — spoken over and over, as in a prosperity statement — tremendous vibratory forces are set up in the invisible that profoundly affect substance and produce results. You become a broadcasting station for rich ideas and rich results.
You are not trying to force the universe or anybody in it to give you anything. You are opening your mind to receive the abundance the universe has for you, and that is yours by divine right. Prosperity is your birthright and your natural condition. Struggling for existence is not noble, not natural, and not necessary.
Prosperity may be as much as 98 percent mental preparation and 2 percent outer action. And the spoken word of prosperity can speed up results by as much as 80 percent. Most courses you attend, you sit and listen to theory. When you begin to speak prosperous words, right there, you accelerate the results.
Get definite about prosperity, so prosperity can get definite about you.
BE DEFINITE: THE FRUIT-CAKE PRINCIPLE
A woman needed more money before Christmas. A friend who knew this philosophy told her: declare now that you have plenty to share and to spare, and say it every day. She did. And people kept giving her fruit cake. She had plenty of fruit cake to share and to spare — but what she needed was money.
The universe cannot fill a vague order. Her words were not definite enough about what she wanted to share and to spare.
The fix: get definite. Say “I am financially prosperous,” not just “I am prosperous.” Do not expect a general success statement to produce a definite specific result.
And watch what you voice in casual moments, because what a person voices, a person begins to attract. A secretary knew this when a woman called saying, “I’d love to get to the prosperity lecture tonight, but I don’t have any transportation.” The secretary turned those words right around: “Oh yes, my dear, you have perfect transportation, and you’ll be at this lecture tonight — I’ll look forward to seeing you there.” Five minutes later the phone rang again: “You’re right, I’m coming to the prosperity lecture. My brother just came by, and he’s bringing me.”
Speak the word the way you want things to be, regardless of conditions of the moment.
THE 21/90 RULE
It takes 21 days to create a new habit. It takes 90 days to create a new lifestyle.
Set aside time every day and speak the words whether you believe them or not at first — whether they seem to be true in your life or not. Declare them anyway. This begins to open your mind to prosperity in definite ways, and when the subconscious feeling nature has absorbed those ideas, it goes to work, and your words come to pass.
Consistency turns the statement into a state.
THE SPEAKING RATIO
For every 15 minutes of reading and study, speak prosperity statements out loud for 5 minutes.
Reading about prosperity and success is not enough. People read all kinds of books and carry all kinds of marvelous theories, but they never release the tremendous energy through the spoken word. It is the spoken word of abundance that brings abundance to you most quickly.
One man did it on purpose. Every night he walked his dog around the block and spoke words of success and prosperity out loud — away from the house, so he could speak freely. Within a few months he had a far better job at several times his previous income. Ten years later he is still thriving, and he still speaks words of prosperity privately every day.
And an English engineer set out to investigate these ideas so he could expose them as a hoax. He quickly discovered they were no hoax. He became so fascinated that he left engineering to teach success and prosperity — and when he started teaching he had very little money, so he spent 15 minutes a day affirming prosperity, ease, money, comfort, and success. Within a matter of weeks he had demonstrated prosperity to the extent that he never had to worry about it again.
Read for 15. Speak for 5. Every day.

THE AFFIRMATIONS
These are the statements that work. Each one has been proved before it was ever put on the sheet — gathered over years, each one working for someone beautifully. Speak them aloud. Get definite about prosperity, so prosperity can get definite about you.
1. “I give thanks that I am now rich, well, and happy, and that my financial affairs are in divine order. Every day in every way I am growing richer and richer.”
Speak it in the morning, before your feet hit the floor.
2. “I have a large, steady, dependable, permanent financial income now. Every day in every way I am growing more and more financially prosperous now.”
Note the word financially — prosperity includes peace, health, and plenty, and this gets definite about the plenty.
3. “I give thanks for quick and substantial increase in my financial income now.”
The teacher who spoke this daily was hired almost immediately for weekend work she loved.
4. “Large sums of money, big happy financial surprises, and rich appropriate gifts now come to me under grace, in perfect ways, for my personal use, and I use them wisely.”
Always add “for my personal use” — otherwise you find yourself handling large sums of money for somebody else.
5. “Everything and everybody prospers me now, and I prosper everything and everybody now.”
The salesman who began speaking this daily made one of the biggest sales of his life the first day.
6. “I praise my world now. I praise my financial affairs now. All the wealth that has not come to me in the past is manifesting riches for me now.”
Praise increases; criticism decreases. Speak it when the bills are staring at you.
7. “I now work financial wonders in my life with prosperity affirmations.”
The step beyond the general: financial wonders, not just wonders.
8. “My words are charged with prospering power.”
The core decree. Say it first, say it last.
9. “Money is attracted to me like a magnet.”
Instead of affirming “I’m always a day late and a dollar short,” which repels prosperity and becomes self-fulfilling.
10. “Words of praise will pay the bills.”
Speak it while you praise the bills themselves — the practice below.
11. “I am an irresistible magnet with the power to attract everything I divinely desire. I attract whatever I mentally choose and accept. I now choose health, success, and happiness. This is a rich, friendly universe, and I dare to accept its riches.”
The full declaration. Speak it slowly.
12. “There is gold dust in the air — for me. Through definite, deliberate prosperous thinking, I now begin assimilating that gold dust, and even now I experience gold-dust results.”
Speak it walking. Gold-dust results are real.
13. “I give thanks for the immediate, complete, divine fulfillment of these desires. This or something better comes forth with perfect timing.”
“Or something better” — ask for the highest good.
14. “Nothing can defeat me. I give thanks for the perfect, immediate right results.”
Speak it before the meeting, the negotiation, the call.
15. “All financial doors are open; all financial channels are free, and endless bounty now comes to me.”
Morning decree. Speak it on the way to work.
16. “I expect lavish abundance every day in every way in my life and affairs. I specifically expect and give thanks for lavish abundance today.”
Expectation is the magnet. Name today.
17. “Every day in every way I am becoming financially independent.”
Daily, until the feeling nature absorbs it.
18. “I do not depend upon persons or conditions for my prosperity. God is the source of my supply.”
Speak it when the paycheck or the client feels like the source.
19. “I am a child of the universe; I dare to prosper.”
The closing meditation. Hold it in times of trial.
20. “I dare to prosper.”
The shortest and the strongest. Make this one your secret text if you keep only one.
> A hundred dollars appeared in a file drawer. A piece of property nobody knew existed met a payroll. A $25 sugar-bowl raid became a quarter of a million dollars. The women and men in these stories walked the floor declaring these words — and the words went out into the ethers and began to change conditions to conform to what was spoken.
> Whatever a person voices, that person begins to attract. Speak the word the way you want things to be in your life, regardless of conditions of the moment.
THE CASUAL WORDS RULE
What a person voices, that person begins to attract. Watch your casual conversation.
Often the casual word of success, expressed in general conversation, produces tremendous results quickly. But casual words of failure — of financial problems, of indebtedness, of financial limitation of any kind — scare away your good, dissipate the prosperity you already have, and block any more from getting through to you.
The people who prosper the most say the least about financial matters. The people who make the least talk the most about it. That is why there are invisible millionaires — tremendously wealthy people we never hear anything about — because the more prosperous they become, the quieter they become, in order to maintain it.
One man invested $20,000 in the stock market and immediately lost it. He never said a word about it. Not to his friends, not even to his wife. He kept saying, “It will come back to me multiplied, if I can just keep my peace and keep my cool.” He continued his affirmations, soon began to prosper, made a fortune in the market in a very short length of time — and stayed just as quiet after the fortune as he was after the loss. He knew he must stabilize his words if he wanted to stabilize his financial affairs.
Keep your peace. Keep your cool. Keep quiet about your financial affairs — because you can talk away your good. Speak the words you want standing.
THE PRAISE PRACTICE
Whatever you praise you increase. Whatever you criticize you decrease.
A sick pocketbook responds to words of praise. People neglect thanksgiving and gratitude so long that things get very bad for them. There is nothing that will empty your pocketbook and your bank account quicker than the cynical, ungrateful state of mind. There is an old proverb: the ungrateful never escape.
A businesswoman proved it. She had grown critical and cynical about her bills. She condemned her ability to pay them, criticized the unexpected expenses that brought them on, and even condemned her usual channels of supply as insufficient. The stronger she got in her critical words, the more her income dried up — because her critical words dissipated her good and scared it away.
Then she learned the power of praise. She went into a room by herself. She took the bills she owed and praised them: “I praise you as the perfect creation of divine bounty.” She laid her hand on the unpaid clothes hanging in her closet and praised them the same way. She went around her home praising every item she owed money on. She took her checkbook and her wallet in her hands and praised them as filled with divine bounty.
After about an hour, a long-distance call came: special weekend work, immediately, paying the equivalent of a month’s salary on her regular job. With it she met her obligations.
Words of praise will pay the bills. When you get cynical about your financial affairs, they get cynical about you.

THE SECRET TEXT
The ancients felt it was good to have a secret motto, a secret word, a secret text to hold to in times of trial. They held that if you hold to a secret text in times of trial, that text will rearrange your affairs and bring you through to victory.
Choose one affirmation from the list above and make it your secret text. When the situation dismays you, speak the text.
A family proved it during the Depression. A housewife gathered her children around the kitchen table every day — her husband was out of work and knew nothing of what she was doing — and they declared this jingle: “For this man you have a wonderful job with a wonderful pay; you render a wonderful service in a wonderful way.” At the height of the Depression her husband came home and said he had been offered a job in the bonding business if he could raise just $25. They raided the sugar bowl. That $25 business grew until it was worth a quarter of a million dollars — and the children who said the affirmations grew up to be prosperous people too.
When you have a secret text, you are never speechless in a trial.
THE FINAL DECLARATION
This is a rich, friendly universe, and I dare to accept its riches.
Everything and everybody prospers me now, and I prosper everything and everybody now.
Your words are charged with prospering power. You have opened your mind to prosperity — so expect your demonstration within the next 24 hours.
You dare to prosper. So declare it.
