If you are operating in the public as self-employed, they are going to come for your FICA and FUTA taxes regardless. But when you move as an ordained minister or a member of a religious order, everything changes.

I teach people all the time to make their name a business. But if you just go out and make an LLC in your name, you are walking right into the Alter Ego Doctrine. Since about 2022, they have been piercing the corporate veil of LLCs because people are still “controlling and benefiting” from them in the public.

To truly protect your assets, you need the 508(c)(1)(a). This is a private trust, a mandatory tax-exempt nonprofit.
